Price Performance

Basis of our Recommendation

Bajaj Housing Finance Ltd. (BHFL) is navigating a complex landscape characterized by robust operational performance and strategic shifts aimed at sustaining growth. Management's recent commentary highlights a strong Q1FY27, with a 24% YoY increase in AUM and a focus on enhancing portfolio yields through the 'Sambhav' product line. This strategic pivot is crucial as it positions BHFL to capitalize on the expanding affordable housing market, supported by favorable government policies and rising urbanization. However, the company faces near-term challenges, including potential margin compression due to competitive pricing pressures and the normalization of credit costs. Vista's financial outlook reflects these dynamics, projecting continued revenue growth albeit at a moderated pace, with improving margins expected as operational efficiencies are realized. The balance sheet remains strong, supporting a fair valuation aligned with intrinsic value. Over the next 12-24 months, key opportunities include leveraging digital initiatives for operational efficiency and expanding into underserved markets. Conversely, watchpoints include competitive pressures in the prime segment and potential regulatory changes impacting growth. Overall, BHFL is well-positioned to navigate these challenges while capitalizing on growth opportunities in the affordable housing sector

Analysts' Viewpoint
Bajaj Housing Finance's strong AUM growth of 24% YoY and strategic focus on the higher-yielding 'Sambhav' portfolio underpin its competitive edge, outpacing industry benchmarks. Analysts highlight the company's operational efficiency and strategic portfolio shifts as key positives, although margin compression due to competitive pricing and rising funding costs remains a concern. Future growth catalysts include scaling 'Sambhav' disbursements and maintaining asset quality, while potential regulatory challenges and interest rate volatility pose risks.
