Price Performance

Basis of our Recommendation

Cochin Shipyard is poised for significant growth, supported by a robust Rs 2,85,000 Cr order pipeline and recent infrastructure enhancements that enable the construction of large-scale vessels. Management's focus on international collaborations with industry leaders like HD KSOE and Drydocks World is expected to enhance productivity and competitiveness, which aligns with Vista's forecast of accelerating revenue growth and improving margins. The current order book of Rs 21,100 Cr provides strong visibility for near-term performance, while the successful conversion of the substantial RFI-stage pipeline, particularly in the defense sector, is critical for long-term growth. Despite the positive outlook, management remains cautious about the cyclical nature of the industry, indicating potential margin normalization. The shipbuilding sector's favorable macro environment, driven by government support and infrastructure development, further bolsters this outlook. Over the next 12-24 months, key opportunities include expanding into international markets and leveraging new infrastructure, while watchpoints include reliance on domestic defense spending and competitive pressures in pricing. Overall, Vista's expected upside of approximately 13.7% reflects a fair valuation aligned with intrinsic value, supporting a hold recommendation
