Basis of our Recommendation

Heritage Foods is navigating a challenging margin environment due to elevated milk procurement and packaging costs, which have pressured profitability in the near term. However, management's aggressive premiumisation strategy, particularly in its Value-Added Products (VAP) portfolio, is expected to drive long-term revenue growth. The recent ramp-up of the new ice cream facility and the acquisition of Heritage Novandie Foods Limited are pivotal developments that enhance the company's competitive position in the fast-growing yogurt and premium ice cream segments. Vista's financial outlook reflects stable revenue growth and margins, supported by these strategic initiatives. Despite current cost pressures, the company's focus on expanding its distribution network and integrating acquired subsidiaries positions it well for future growth. The FMCG sector's expansion, coupled with favorable macroeconomic conditions in India, further supports Heritage Foods' outlook. Over the next 12-24 months, key opportunities include the successful execution of its premiumisation strategy and market share gains in high-margin categories. Conversely, watchpoints include ongoing raw material inflation and potential execution risks related to market fluctuations

Analysts' Viewpoint
Heritage Foods is enhancing its product mix by prioritizing value-added products (VAP), such as paneer, curd, and ice cream, which are less cyclical and offer higher margins. The successful ramp-up of the new Hyderabad ice cream facility and strategic acquisitions bolster this shift. However, profitability remains constrained by rising milk procurement and packaging costs, with weather-related risks potentially impacting milk supply. Planned capacity additions and farmer network expansion are expected to drive future growth and mitigate supply risks.
