Basis of our Recommendation

Bank of Maharashtra's management has articulated a clear strategy focused on 'profitable growth,' emphasizing asset quality over aggressive expansion. This approach is reflected in their strong advances growth and stable asset quality metrics, with a Gross NPA of 1.45%. The bank's strategic initiatives, including branch network expansion and a focus on digital banking, position it well to capitalize on India's favorable macroeconomic conditions, such as projected GDP growth of 6.6% for FY 2026-27. Vista's financial outlook anticipates moderate revenue growth, supported by improving margins as the bank navigates a challenging deposit environment through prudent cost management and a focus on high-potential sectors like green energy and MSME lending. While the bank faces headwinds from shifting consumer preferences and geopolitical tensions, its strong capital position and commitment to maintaining asset quality provide a stable foundation for growth. Over the next 12-24 months, key opportunities include expanding the retail and agriculture credit segments, while watchpoints include potential regulatory impacts and external economic pressures
