Basis of our Recommendation

VA Tech Wabag's recent developments highlight a strong growth trajectory, supported by a robust order book of INR 194 billion, which is 4.9 times its FY26 revenue. Management's strategic focus on geographic diversification, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, is expected to enhance cash flow and profitability, despite current reliance on lower-margin EPC projects. The company's emphasis on high-margin operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts aims to mitigate margin pressures and drive long-term growth. Vista's financial outlook anticipates double-digit revenue growth over the next 3-4 years, with EBITDA margins projected to remain stable between 13-15%. The favorable macro environment, characterized by increasing government spending on water infrastructure and a growing demand for sustainable solutions, further supports this outlook. However, potential headwinds include geopolitical risks, inflationary pressures, and competitive dynamics. Over the next 12-24 months, key opportunities lie in expanding into high-growth sectors such as ultra-pure water and green hydrogen, while watchpoints include managing project execution risks and maintaining profitability amidst competitive pricing pressures

Analysts' Viewpoint
VA Tech Wabag's strong operational momentum is driven by a record order book and strategic expansion into high-growth industrial water segments, including semiconductors and green hydrogen. Analysts highlight the company's disciplined project selection and asset-light model, which enhance capital efficiency and support sustained growth. Key risks include execution challenges in the Middle East and potential margin pressures from a high EPC project mix. Upcoming catalysts include the commissioning of major desalination projects and the unveiling of the 'Vriddhi 2.0' strategy.
